Marci Evans
Marci is a Food and Body Imager Healer®. She has dedicated her career to counseling, supervising, and teaching in the field of eating disorders. She is a Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian and Supervisor, certified Intuitive Eating Counselor and Certified ACSM personal trainer.
Marci has two professional passions. The first is working in partnership with her clients to help them heal their relationship to food, exercise, and their bodies and by extension themselves. The second is elevating the field of nutrition through teaching and supervising dietitians on how to effectively counsel people with eating disorders. She is both an educator and practitioner – both realms of work informing and enhancing one another.
Marci deeply believes in the power of human connection and self-compassion to foster growth and powerful transformation. As she often says “my clients possess the inner wisdom they need to heal and grow, I just help them find it.” Marci feels immense gratitude for a career that helps her to learn and grow everyday.
Clinical Work
Marci specializes in and works exclusively within the eating disorders and disordered eating field. She utilizes a non-weight focused approach to wellness and is a fierce believer that health cannot be captured by a number. Her work is informed by Intuitive Eating and Health At Every Size® principles. In particular, she is known for her expertise related to the intersection of gut health and eating disorders; orthorexia; and body image.
Marci maintains a private practice dedicated to helping her clients heal from the effects of disordered eating and eating disorders. Her deepest and most profound learning has come from her clients.
Teaching, Training, and Education
In 2015 Marci developed the first online training institute designed specifically to educate and empower dietitians to work in the field of eating disorders. She is proud of her online institute and looks forward to building her library of training opportunities in the coming years. In addition to her online teaching, she is an internationally recognized and sought after speaker. She loves developing and giving talks and workshops to her fellow colleagues.
Since 2012, Marci has worked as adjunct faculty at The Eating Disorder Institute at Plymouth State University where she teaches graduate students and clinicians the art and science of nutrition counseling for Eating Disorders. In 2016 she was invited by Simmons College to join their faculty and serve as co-director and developer of their eating disorders specialty dietetic internship alongside her friend, colleague, and mentor Lisa Pearl. She also teaches at Northeastern University as part of their adjunct faculty. She feels fortunate to help strengthen field of eating disorders by educating and empowering the next generation of clinicians.
CAREER HISTORY AND EDUCATION
Marci discovered her passion for working with eating disorders during her dietetic internship at California State University Long Beach. Through an elective rotation at Center for Discovery, Marci was drawn to the complexity of eating disorders, the collaborative treatment approach, as well as the opportunity to work in a long-term way with her clients.
Marci’s career as a nutrition and wellness expert began at the newly established Wellness Center at the Central Utah Medical Clinic in Provo, Utah. As a new and highly motivated dietitian, Marci was the first nutrition director and only nutrition expert at the medical clinic.
In 2009 She obtained her Master’s Degree in Applied Nutrition with an emphasis in business entrepreneurship and eating disorders counseling at Northeastern University. It was through her academic experience at NEU that she gained the tools and confidence to establish her private practice in late 2009. In one short year her practice grew and she feels extremely fortunate to have recruited and worked with several skilled and truly wonderful RDNs in her practice. Several years later, she’s grateful she took the risk to open her own practice and can’t imagine spending her time doing anything else.
