4th of July: Celebrate Your Independence
I love the 4th of July. It’s a laid-back, relaxing, good weather, and grilled food kind of holiday. What’s not to love? I also really like the theme of independence. And I think it’s a fantastic theme for anyone looking to improve their physical, mental, or emotional health.
We all find ourselves with habits we’d like to do away with. So why not think about this coming 4th of July as an opportunity to take a day of independence from something that has been bringing you down? Get creative, you can declare your independence from ANYTHING as long as it supports your overall health.
Perhaps you’d like to get out of a food rut and eat more fruits and veggies. What a better time to enjoy the fresh berries and corn that summer brings!
Or maybe you are too rigid with eating and you’d like to incorporate some more “fun food” into your diet. Celebrating the 4th with family and friends is a great opportunity.
You might like to focus on speaking to yourself with more compassion so staying tuned in to your inner dialogue might be useful.
Or maybe you work too much and just want to relax! Is the 4th a day to steer clear of all things electronic?
It’s up to you. But take good care of yourself. No one else can do that for you. The 4th is a day of celebrating our nation’s independence. But perhaps it’s also a day to declare yourself some independence as well. You deserve it.
What will you be declaring your independence from this 4th of July?
