Shana E. Sporman MS, RD, LDN is a registered dietitian and health enthusiast. Many people have an idea of what to do in order to be healthy. Shana’s passion is showing you how. Shana empowers her clients to achieve personal balance and wellness for a lifetime with knowledge, motivation, and practical tools.
From an early age, Shana discovered her enthusiasm for helping people. She came to appreciate that health isn’t simply the absence of disease; it’s thriving in every stage of life. Through individual counseling and coaching, Shana continues to bring that enthusiasm to life for her clients.
Educational BackgroundAt Indiana University, Shana chose an academic path that encompassed her two greatest passions: people and health. She completed a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics as well as a Minor in Psychology. Upon completion of her undergraduate coursework, Shana was accepted to a highly competitive program at Boston University. At BU she completed both her dietetic internship and Master’s Degree in Nutritional Sciences.
Professional BackgroundMost recently, Shana has worked as a resource dietitian, serving over a dozen different hospitals, outpatient clinics, and community organizations all over New England. Shana has come to love and excel at the challenge of providing medical nutrition therapy to a wide spectrum of patients. As a result of this unique work experience, Shana has significant experience treating diabetes, heart disease, eating disorders, food allergies and intolerances. Her strong academic background, varied work experience, engaging communication style, and warm personality make Shana an excellent clinician for a wide variety of clients.
Areas of ExpertiseIn the fall of 2010, Shana accepted the position at Marci RD Nutrition Consulting in order to spend more time pursuing the most gratifying aspect of her career, providing individual nutrition counseling in an outpatient setting. Her area of expertise includes healthy weight management, sports nutrition, and medical nutrition therapy.
Shana not only guides her clients to healthy and balanced living, she embodies it. Outside of work, Shana spends her free time traveling, hiking, volunteering, playing and watching sports, exploring different cuisines, visiting with friends/family and coaching the Boston University Women’s Club Volleyball team. She is a very passionate, energetic, and motivated professional dedicated to helping others live and thrive through wellness.
